Lailah the happy Boxer just had her first birthday and is a sweet little bundle of energy! When I first open the door she is cozied up on the couch with her blanket but she comes running when she hears the leash! She has been a very fast learner and sits while I put the harness on and open the door. Once we hit the sidewalk she has a couple minutes where she bounces and jumps and flips all over, getting her “puppy crazies” all worked out hehe. After that she trots along with her head up like she is the best looking dog on the block. (She just might be too!) She has been absolutely loving the snow and stops quite often to bury her nose in it and fluff some up in the air. Lailah gets very excited about other dogs and people and we have been working hard to sit and be calm. She is very motivated by treats and I’m so impressed with how far she’s come in our time together. Lailah has also made some friends on our walks and they are just as excited to see her as she is to see them. She truly enjoys every second we are out which makes it a joy to walk her! -Alaina (Nature of the Dog -GR Dog Walker)
His age may be small, but his enthusiasm for the world and all the humans in it is huge. Meet baby Herbie, a 3 month old Bermadoodle. On our walks, Herbie has elected himself supervisor of affections. He takes his job very seriously. No person passes by without a proper greeting orchestrated by Herbie. It’s his passion to say “Hello” and all he asks in return is a scratch on the head or a pat on the back. Herbie has yet to meet a person he doesn’t like; the mailman is his favorite, the little girl down the street is his favorite and the ladies out for a power walk are his favorite. When he’s not making friends, Herbie relishes in nature’s most exquisitely crafted toys. Leaves blowing in the wind are perfect for chasing and when the wind ceases to blow, chewing a nice stick in the brush will do. After selecting the perfect stick he’s sure to show it off, prancing up and down the sidewalk tempting me to try and snag it from him. Herbie is such a pleasure to walk and I’m so thrilled he is a part of our team! -Kailey (Nature of the Dog -GR Dog Walker)
Maisie is a young golden retriever who is an absolute sweetheart with quite a playful side! When I come to get her she is usually curled up on the bed with her roommate, Henry the cat. Some days she’s a tired puppy and it takes a treat to get her out of her comfy place but most days she is super excited to head out (especially if I have friends along for her!). Maisie knows right where she wants to walk and loves to lead me to the park and then around the whole thing, showing off her favorite spots. She is definitely a water lover and will splash down into the creek or through puddles at every chance. She loves to play and wrestle with all the new friends she has met on her walks. Maisie is also a professional squirrel hunter and can spot them from quite a ways off. She loves to sit under trees and stare up at them after she’s chased them up hehe. She’s a very busy girl so she’s always pretty tired by the end of our walks and ready to get back to her comfy warm bed. Maisie has been such fun to get to know and her lovely manners and sweet smile make it a treat to walk her! -Alaina (Nature of the Dog -GR Dog Walker)
Cooper is a slightly older, very handsome Australian Labradoodle with impeccable manners and the sweetest eyes. You can count on him to be waiting by the front window and as soon as he spots my car he runs to the door. Even though he is always quite excited for his walk he will sit or stand very nicely to be hooked up and wait for me to open the door for him. No matter what the weather is, Cooper has a big smile on his face for the entire walk. He doesn’t spend too much time sniffing around, he likes to keep things moving, but once in awhile he’ll surprise me and bark at another dog or get worked up over a squirrel. He knows the spot where we tend to turn around (which means treat time!) and as we get close he starts to look back at me and his tail really gets wagging! I don’t even have to ask him for a sit, as soon as he hears the treat bag he plops right down to pose for his picture and get his reward. As much as he loves his walks he is just as happy to get back and make sure things are as they should be at home. Cooper is such a joy to walk, I’m always happy to end my day spending time with him! -Alaina (Nature of the Dog -GR Dog Walker)
Charlie is a super sweet Australian Labradoodle who is still young enough to have lots of energy! He absolutely loves his walks and will jump and paw at the door when he sees my car pull in. He is very well mannered though and despite his excitement he will sit for me to get his leash on before taking off out the door. Charlie is a very curious little guy and loves to sniff and nose around while we are out. I have to keep an eye on him because he also loves to pick things up and attempt to carry them along with us! He is very friendly and is always happy when people come up to say hello and give him a pet. The only thing that makes Charlie slightly nervous is the harness going over his head but once it’s on he’s good to go! He doesn’t mind what the weather is, he just trots right along with a smile on his face. He has learned that when we turn around to head home that means treat time and he refuses to continue the walk until I take his picture and hand over the treat. Charlie always poses so nicely but he’s usually just a little too excited to sit. I really enjoy ending my day with this happy little guy, he always manages to put a smile on my face! -Alaina (Nature of the Dog -GR Dog Walker)
Meet Oakley! When I first met Oakley he was very shy but the more time we spent together the more outgoing he became. As soon as I arrive, he’s already wagging his tail and jumping all around with excitement! He is such a fun, loving, energetic pup that loves the sunshine and warm summer breeze. As soon as we get back to his house, he sprints towards his kennel to await his beloved treats, such a good pup! Oakley is a joy to be around and I’m so happy I get to walk him each week! -Paula (Nature of the Dog -GR Dog Walker)
Poppy is a beautiful, sweet Shepherd mix who literally wears her heart on her face. She is one of the easiest going doggos that I walk and I just love her happy go lucky personality! She is always waiting by the door when I get there and has her nose by the door ready to head right out. She has a sweet little smile on her face the whole walk, rain or shine. She’s not a super speedy walker and is content to just slowly sniff along. She has her nose on the ground for most of the walk, not wanting to miss anything. The one thing that will get her perked right up and on her toes are the squirrels! She just loves to chase them down and will try to run right up the tree after them! She loves her treats and when we get back to the house she always waits very patiently until she gets her last one before I leave. Poppy is just an all around sweetheart and you can’t help but give her a big hug whenever you see her! -Alaina (Nature of the Dog -GR Dog Walker)
From our pup to yours, Happy Holidays Grand Rapids! We are so thankful to be able to do what we love in our great city. Looking forward to caring for your wonderful dogs in the New Year!
Berkley is a 7 year old Boxer with the best puppy eyes and floppy ears you could ask for! He comes running right to the front window as soon as I pull up, then runs to the door to wait for me to come inside. He knows he gets a treat when he sits but he is super excited for his walk and spins in circles a few times before he can calm down enough to sit. Once we head out he has his head and ears up looking in every direction so he doesn’t miss a single thing. He is quite the speedy walker but if it’s raining he will have to tip toe thru any puddles in his path. He may look like Mr Tough Guy but he is really just a big sweetie and I have found that he doesn’t like loud noises (leaf blowers were quite an issue this fall hehe). When it’s picture time he always has some handsome poses for me and if I don’t get his treat out fast enough he starts going thru his other tricks with a desperate look on his face. (So cute!) He does like to show off his bark every now and then but he is a very polite guy while we are out. When we get back he plops right back into a sit for his final treat and watches me leave out the front window. I always look forward to seeing Berkley, his energy and sweet face just brighten my day! -Alaina (Nature of the Dog -Grand Rapids Dog Walker)
